A 650-Kilometer Journey in Pursuit of Light — Gianni Lacroce’s Astrophotography Story
Italian astrophotographer Gianni Lacroce found the inspiration for this photo through a very personal moment. Last winter, a close friend won an astrophotography competition— “I wanted to pay tribute to his achievement,” he says.
With patience and purpose, he waited for the same nebula to return to the night sky in the new season. When the time came, he embarked on a 650-kilometer journey from Rome to Calabria, where he spend six nights under the stars capturing the deep-sky target that had inspired him.
“That image became a source of inspiration. Beautiful photos always encourage us to reach for something just as meaningful—or even better.”
