The Heart Nebula was way too big for my telescope. I’m starting to think my telescope, the Celestron 8SE, is only good for small objects like the Ring Nebula or Dumbbell Nebula, but telescopes with a shorter focal length are better suited for large targets like the Heart Nebula. It may be time for a telescope upgrade. UPDATE: I was very on target – I was dead center on the nebula, but it’s so large, I will need a much smaller telescope to see all of it.
